The High Chair Thingy™ was developed by Alexandra and Michael, parents of a then 16-month-old son.

Alexandra, a practicing Physician Assistant with a background in Emergency Medicine and Dermatology, was adamant about minimizing their son's exposure to bacteria and germs in public places. This was especially true when it came to using restaurant high chairs.

Michael, a practicing Software Engineer with a background in Electrical Engineering, wasn't satisfied with the high chair covers available on the market. He knew there had to be a better way.

With Alexandra's concern for protection, Michael's engineering expertise, and their son as a test subject, they set out to develop a new high chair cover that was simple, quick and compact.

After more than 18 months of development and multiple design-prototype-test cycles, the patent-pending High Chair Thingy™ was born. Throughout much of development, the cover didn't have a name -- they just referred to it as the "high chair thingy". Turns out that the name stuck -- they decided that High Chair Thingy would be the perfect name!
